Want to change the world?27 states plus D.C. have consistently gone to the same party on election night for the past seven elections or more. Over half the country has had no variance in almost 30 years!How do you make an impact in that kind of environment? The Democrat will win in a blue-state even without your vote, and the Republican will lose even with it. Vice-versa in red-states. While pundits continue to claim that a vote for a 3rd-party is a waste, the truth is it’s the most impactful way to cast your vote. A 3rd-party needn’t win the presidency nor even win your state in order to have a major impact on future elections. By law, 3rd-parties have more election hurdles and fewer resources. When a 3rd-party achieves just 5% of the popular vote, this changes and the party becomes eligible for advantages that the Ds and Rs benefit from each election cycle. The Libertarian party will achieve this 5% goal. It’s just a matter of when. The party’s percentage on election night has more than doubled every election since 2008. You can cast a vote that has positive impact on future elections forever. What could possibly be a better use of a vote? 2008: 0.4% 2012: 0.9% 2016: 3.3% 2020: ????
